Re: Roland CM-32L ROM Version?

why not just use TAKEGO.MID to be 100% sure? if you have v1.00 rom you will immediately hear it - there is no mistaking I wish I could. I don’t have physical access to the device. I was trying to determine the version prior to purchase 😝 it’s a bit of a gamble but if it does turn out to be v1.00 …

Re: Roland CM-32L ROM Version?

I found a website that allows you to lookup Roland serial numbers to give you a date of manufacture. This one was end of 1991. Since the CM-32L started production 1989 I think it’s safe to say a 1991 model was not running v1.00 https://serial-number-decoder.co.uk/roland/roland.htm

Roland CM-32L ROM Version?

I’m trying to determine if the ROM version for a CM-32L is v1.00 or not Is it safe to assume that because the ROM is soldered directly to the PCB it is NOT v1.00? Where as the v1.00 version has a socket? One of Phil’s videos seem to suggest this. What’s interesting is that it’s serial number starts …

Re: ESS Solo 1 different versions

You need to do it twice because there's two channels. It's not a "logical on/of" but you route each channel through an amplifier or not. Feel free to do only one jumper - you'll see you'll have only one side amplified. Doing it with a single jumper would've required more components and added costs. …

Re: ESS Solo 1 different versions

Here's 2 for the collection. The ES1938MI is currently being used in an EPIA-ITX based project On the E1938-202 PCI card, do you know what the jumpers do? From recall it was to enable amplification for passive speakers That’s what I thought it was for but why do you need 2 jumpers for that. That’s …

Re: ESS Solo 1 - Cannot find the AudioDrive

Thanks for the info Joseph. After a long read, it appears I have a newer revision of the Solo 1 so ESSVOL will not work. Are you aware of any method to unmute the line-in when ESSVOL doesn’t work? I’d like to be able to use my SC-55 with some games. Unfortunately, I don't know of any way to do that …

Re: ESS Solo 1 - Cannot find the AudioDrive

The only problem now is ESSVOL.exe does not detect the card. I got a funny feeling Phils ESSDOS drivers are borked (but surely someone else would have complained?) or not compatible with my particular ESS Solo 1. Going to do some more investigating... ESSVOL.EXE isn't a part of the official Solo-1 …

Re: ESS Solo 1 - Cannot find the AudioDrive

Ok got a little further. Well, almost there. When I installed the Windows drivers, it also installed the DOS drivers to C:\ drive (ESSOLO.COM, ESSOLO.SYS, ESSCFG.INI). I modified my config.sys and autoexec.bat to point to the drivers sitting in the root of C: and bingo! the card came alive in DOS. …
