You need -12v rail for Sound Blasters to work, so cheap adapters won't work without additional modding. I believe this is not true. Make sure that the northbridge is sufficiently cooled. Check thermal paste, maybe add a fan, etc. I know from my experience, that AMD 780G gets pretty hot which leads to instability.
