Re: A slim, fast, but does everything DOS Floppy Boot Disk?

in DOS
The above post helped me out a lot actually, and helped me realize what I was doing wrong. Let me explain. The best way to have your own slim DOS Boot Disk, is to format a floppy disk with the current DOS version. I'm not a fan of DOS that comes with Windows 95 and above, and my absolute favourite …

EZ-bios is the overlay for EZ-drive. The version on phil's is limited to FAT16 for booting, sadly. This version in vogons driver lib, does though. the 'relocation' program found in older versions DOES work with newer ones. I've tested it. The relocation driver is called ezmem.sys, and is found on …

Sorry, hadn't been able to post for the last couple of days. Whoa theres a lot to respond to. Alright, lets try to get them all. The problem I'm running into are two fold. One is I've still not had any luck with SHCDX33F.exe. I've added it to my autoexect.bat and config.sys with some tutorials I've …

Not sure what the above aggro is about but try to not let it tarnish the rest of us here, not all of us behave like that to new people. I'm so glad to hear that. I have no idea what the argument is about either! 🤣 I'll just chauk it up to the guy was having a bad day, and I was at the wrong place …

So you just want a tailored download without doing any legwork yourself. Well, I don't think that's completely fair. Your suggestion above about editing the config.sys worked, and I was able to cut that time down. Thanks for the help, by the way. But without doing the legwork is not exactly correct …

And you need to be more specific about devices what you want supported, exactly. Like, "USB drive support" - is that flash drives, or also external HDDs, and how about USB DVD drives? Maybe even a ZIP drive? CD-ROM support - any specific models, or just include one generic driver and hope for the …

I think this laptop is too slow for XP tbh. Not really sure why you'd need it. Yeah, I did notice that when I did have it installed, it chugged as slow as the Dallas traffuc circle. I'm good with not using it, I only needed it for one floppy burning program. Anyway, I realized installing xp from …

2gb is the fat16 limit, with 8gbbeing the usual lchs limit that needs broken. 48bit lba is needed for disks larger than 128gb, and for that you need at least win2k with 48bit atapi.sys. (system drive cannot be that size though!) EZBios should get you the large disk support you need, and play nice …

A slim, fast, but does everything DOS Floppy Boot Disk?

in DOS
Hey ho guys. So I have been looking for a good DOS floppy boot disk that does everything. I'm looking for things like mouse drivers, USB drive support, and CD-ROM support. I have one that does that, it's a Windows 98 boot disk with USB drivers added to it. But it takes around two minutes to boot. …

Ok, so I have found a piece of software that does the same thing that works for Windows 98, so I don't need XP anymore *wipes his brow* man, cause that was a huge headache. But now I can use the IDE SD card adapter with DOS and Win98 at it's full 64GB compasidy 😁 I also don't need to mess with the …

So yah, however you get it on there, it's going to be a thrashy pain in the ass. If you were stuck with the 8GB, I'd say use XP initial release version and give it a bare minimum 2GB. However, there should be a BIOS around somewhere in a softpaq that takes HDD support up to 27GB or so from the …

Hey ho guys. I joined this form just so that I can make a post about my Armada 1750. I took out the 8GB IDE drive that it came with and have bought a PATA to SD card adapter ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07QNB6QLC?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title ) wanting to put a 64GB card in. And I can't …
