Re: no impact live Linux distros

in Milliways
So for arguments sake how formidable would a virus or script need to be to dig down to your native files system? I'm not talking about an operator who has an extensive knowledge of linux.

Re: no impact live Linux distros

I wasn't stating there was no conceivable way to access drives. Just by normal channels, open to interpretation depending om who you ask, they're imaccessible. From what I could tell your native drive/os are secure from being fed with. Unless you go downloading some disgusting rot. I suppose an e- …

Re: no impact live Linux distros

I don't have any spares thumb drives. All I know is that in the included file inspector app, the internal h/d, which was soldered to the mobo, some sort off ssd, was not visible. Iinm you could't even save anything to the usb drive (download yes but it would just sit there). Can't swear to that …

Re: no impact live Linux distros

Not so. I cannot even see my internal drive w/Fedora. Can't. If there is a way to circumvent this, I'd be happy to hear how (not that I'm interested). I produced a bootable drive w/Peppermimt and prefer a non-gnome based gui. But I can see and preaumably alter the internal h/d's contents.

no impact live Linux distros

I know Fedora is 1. I was wondering which other distros allow booting off of a thumb drive, but to which the native internal hard drive is neither accessible nor even visible.

Re: electronic componemt kits

Whoa. Actually if you just put "ic kit" in amazon or presumably google a whole bunch of kits appear. Specify too many search terms and you get shafted. And it just occurred to me much of this stuff is gonna be chineseum. But what can you do. For learning purposes I suppose (hope?) it's fine. Would …

Re: electronic componemt kits

It seems you're right. This bites. I just signed.up for a course on udemy to refresh/enlighten me. The imstructor does provide a list of components needed. It just would be so nice if there was a suitable comprehensive kit, op amps, various digital gates, etc. I don't know how much digital he goes …

electronic componemt kits

Is there a kit out tbere that has an abundance of components, passive/active/ic's? The common types of active/ic's, stuff you'll see referenced in a teztbook or course? Digital ic's would be nice too (but people are saying a lot of those families are falling by the wayside. Is that true?

Re: laptops and nits

1000 nits would cost a phenomenal amount of money. A curved monitor brings portions of an image that appear at the periphery of your vision and pulls it in. Arguably lessens eye strain. But what do I know. I'm not an optometrist.

HPs business class desktops and servers are very good. Their consumer grade itemd, including laptips, are crappola in my experience. I commend the good luck you've had with them though. Acer isn't top notch I'll grant you. But 140$ isn't a big expenditure, I'd buy nearly any brand of monitor that …

Re: USB stalls

in Milliways
This is an Asus e410-m. Celeron, 4gb ram,64gb ssd. It has an nvme slot. I've seen these stalls before, regardless.of what LT I was using. It seemed to be most prevalent with Adata drives. I won't swear to it. Eventually I may upgrade to an nvme. There isn't tons of reason at the moment. It's sort of …
