I've read some topics regarding different sb's and purchased ESS 1868f ISA as it has many good reviews. It will be a pleasure for me to make another vintage setup with k-6 CPU and ess soundcard. And make some Tests in sound SB Live running in win98 VS Ess1868 running in DOS OS.

Can two cards for instance one isa for DOS and second one pci for win98 to be installed at once?

Game classics like Doom, wolf, duke etc 1. Quality (reproduction, and sound) 2.compatibility I'd look Into DOS aswell if it sounded right

Hi, I've tried ess 1948f maestro-1, (noisy and sounds poor) and creative Live sb0060, this one better but nothing impressive. Sometimes laggy and looks like lack of sound fonts. System win98 se. Any other recommendations? Currently thinking of another build as I have another MB with Isa ports.
