Egyptian Build engine game

in DOS
Does anyone remember the name of a Build engine game that, I believe, came out before Duke 3D set in Egypt and later is some alien ship? Thanks!

Re: Outpost 1.0 (Seriously)

No problem, he's trying to help. I was so cought up with re-playing System Shock that I dusted off a 300a, a SB16 and a Stealth 64 DRAM so now I have a DOS machine again. No matter what flavor of Windows I tried, (95, 98, 2000) it tells me the same thing. No matter, it's not that good of a game :)

Ok, there is no compatibility mode in Win 95. I'm installing from the CD and have the floppy in A:\. It tells me that it needs windows 3.1 or higher.

Outpost 1.0 (Seriously)

in Windows
OK, so I was the only guy on Earth that liked the game. I used to have this whole tech tree spreadsheet and all. Problem is I have the 1.0 version that requires this stupid floppy install. Every time I try and install it it tells me I have the wrong windows version (heck, even Win 95 OSR 2!). No …

Re: System Shock SVGA problems

in DOS
Well, I've been playing happily at 640x480 for two days now without any incident. This game is soooo good. It grabs you and oes not let go! To everyone who has not played it, give it a try, you won't be dissapointed. The greaphics are great considering they are not accelerated. Thanks to all who …

Re: System Shock SVGA problems

in DOS
For the sake of completeness I want to point out that if I move the mouse in the main menu when using mouse2kv.exe the game will crash. Set up a game or load an old one using the arrow keys. Use the mouse in game only! This may happen only at higher resolutions only, I'm happily playing at 640x480, …

Re: System Shock SVGA problems

It tried it this way and it worked "MOUSE2KV.EXE XRES YRES XMULTI YMULTI DOS4GW.EXE PROGRAM.EXE" Lucky guess. I used the DOS4GW.EXE that is linked in the Syndicate Wars thread here. http://www.vogons.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=418&highlight=DOS4Gw.exe The link that aka_mikey_m points to. It kept …

Re: System Shock SVGA problems

in DOS
God I hate to admit I'm a dork in public but..... I'M A DORK!! The reason NOLFB.COM was "not working" was because I was not using ALT ENTER to maximize the DOS box!!! May my 'mea culpa' be of use to other noobs like me!! 😁 Thanks for all the help guys!! Now, where is that mouse speed file at?

Re: System Shock SVGA problems

in DOS
Ahh, the good ol' days :) When breaking above 600k of base memory was a feat! Yes, it ran for an hour before it dumped me to the desktop, or more accurately, to the DOS window. I still have a 300a and an ABIT BH6 not doing anything, a SoundBlaster 16 SCSI-2 ISA card, and a Stealth 64 DRAM!! Throw …

Re: System Shock SVGA problems

in DOS
Sorry, I got cha now. I spent about an hour with the game until it crashed to the desktop for no apparent reason. I've read others having this same problem. I'm beginning to think that it might be easier to build a DOS machine with 6.22. 😁

Re: System Shock SVGA problems

in DOS
640x480 is my goal. After reading the other thread I'm still stumped. The only difference is that I put the NOLFB files in the SSHOCK directory and I'm calling it directly from there. Should these files be somewhere else? I ca see that the NOLFB TSR is loaded because I can read it on the screen when …

Re: System Shock SVGA problems

in DOS
Thanks again. I'm still having problems with SVGA. The Radeon 9700 Pro does not display the higher resolutions and neither does the GF4 Ti4600. I tried a calling NOLFB from a full DOS window and nothing. How are you guys able to get the higher res modes??
