Re: Terminator: Future Shock

in DOS
Right I have the game working (stably as far as I can tell). You need to use VDMSound (I use 2.0.4), but future shock needs to be run from a full screen dos prompt. So launch cmd.exe, then manually start VDMSound (by typing dosdrv), switch to full screen Alt+Enter, and then run shock.exe (or …

Re: Terminator: Future Shock

in DOS
In the posting guidlines for this forum it asks you to provide specific information on your hardware set up and a detailed account of the steps you have tried in order to get your game to run. Simply saying 'When I try to run it I get only a black screen' doesn't help us very much. Can you try again …

Need for Speed III on Windows XP

in Windows
Does anyone know why I keep getting the following error message (generated by the game) whenever I select 'Player Car' or 'Location' on the main menu screen? openhandlea - OPEN FAILED ON 'nul' I know this isn't an exclusive XP issue since I have been able to run the game on 2000 and on this XP Pro …

mouse2kv white noise when running mech2

in DOS
I've just got Mech 2 (the DOS version) up and running on XP with a combination of VDMSound, Nolfb and Sapucdex (Sound, SVGA graphics, CD music and all :D) However my mouse responsiveness left a lot to be desired so I tried mouse2kv and added the following to my mech2.bat: ---start--- dosdrv.exe …

Re: Mortal Kombat Trilogy

Well quite a few other people had reported that fix changing their drive settings... anyhow you can set them in the registry if they keep undoing themselves

Mortal Kombat Trilogy

in Windows
Don't really play this one much but I want to have the satisfaction of knowing I can get all my dos games working in XP. :P The DOS version of the game installs but when I try and run it with VDMSound and nolfb it freezes at the dragon logo screen. The Windows version runs but crashes on the …

Getting CD-ROM audio in Dos games

in DOS
I've noticed this problem in almost all DOS games that run under NT based OSes. With VDMSound et al you can get sfx and midi audio, but cd-rom audio tracks fail to play. For example Mechwarrior 2, Tomb Raider, Carmageddon etc. I'm sure someone mentioned an alternative to mscdexnt.exe that fixed this …

Carmageddon

in Windows
Carmageddon CD-ROM full original UK version. Here's what I've tried: Virtual PC 4.36 [Win95 (4.00.950) Guest OS]: Both DOS & Win95 versions work flawlessly but slowly in SVGA & VGA modes. In Windows with VDMSound: Dos version works fine in standard VGA mode. In SVGA mode (using carma.exe -hires) and …

Re: Lemmings

Oh yes the cycles... gotta increase the cycles forgot about that one! 🙄 CTRL+F12 isn't it? (about 3/4 boosts with these key combo does the trick if memory serves).

Re: SoundBlaster autodetect in Lemmings 3D

in DOS
I have tried every combination the setup program pocesses... and yes I have EMS available under all emulators and XP dos prompt itself. That is not the problem.. it is how the game detects (or doesn't in my case) the sound blaster, apparently its a known issue but other people have been able to …

SoundBlaster autodetect in Lemmings 3D

in DOS
Has anyone managed to get sound blaster support working in this game? I've tried running the 10 level demo (and the 6 level xmas one) but the sound blaster chip isn't detected. With VDMSound 2.0.4 update 1 the game runs fine and the midi music works but not SFX. In Dosbox 0.58 the game gets past the …

Re: Lemmings

Try running the game (CD-ROM or Floppy ver) in DOSBox 0.58 It works *almost* without fault. There is only one bug I have found; if you want to scroll the screen then you have to click on the map in the bottom right hand corner of the display, slightly irratating but that bug should be fixed in the …
