DosBox, Windows 8, MT-32, and HDMI problems

I have my MT-32 going into the line-in on my SB. Make the config changes, great, everything works. I'm trying to now output the thing to a PVR to record some footage. I'm using an NVidia card, so outputting it over HDMI. The video and sound blaster go through just fine, but the MT-32 still only …

Re: DOS games and LCD monitors

in DOS
I tried plugging it into the analog port (with the help of a DVI to VGA converter), and it displays now. Ugly, but it displays. On the other hand, I'd rather not have it on analog since I hear to always use DVI if possible with an LCD to keep color accuracy. Now somehow the ATI drivers always keep …

DOS games and LCD monitors

in DOS
I recently acquired a Hercules Prophetview Pro 920 DVI. My video card is a ATI 9800. BTW, this is a dual monitor setup, and I have a CRT on the VGA adapter. Before I installed the LCD, I could play older games fine, well, at least see them. Now, every DOS game I've tried (I haven't tried any 640x480 …

Faery Tale Adventure 2

in Windows
I installed the windows version of the game, and it crashes every time I try to use a book. They include a DOS version, but I can't seem to install it, even with VDMS sound. It doesn't copy anything over. Using Windows XP on an AMD 2000XP & Radeon 9800.

Re: [OT] Better MIDI in DOS?

in DOS
Try a different soundfont. Unfortunately, SB Live, Audigy, etc don't have the best sound quality (either in terms of their horrible FM emulation, or even sound blaster emulation). You could always try an external midi sound module and go through your pc's midi port.

Re: DVD Games, where art thou?

Was that ever confirmed? I'm not convinced it existed. I know that Gabriel Knight 2 did come out on DVD. Sierra had this promotion at the time that they were willing to change a few of their games over to DVD, but it only lasted really less than 2 months I think. Same thing with Bioware and …

Re: DVD Games, where art thou?

in Windows
Well, DVD technology hasn't caught on like CDROM's and soundcards. Well, sound cards aren't exactly a good analogy, since you could still play the game, but CDROM's are similar. By the time they became 2x, I know Sierra and other companies started releasing DVD versions of their more popular games. …

What I'd like to find someday (if I can get them cheap enough...) ------------------------------ Baldurs Gate Command and Conquer I have the Baulder's Gate DVD, and honestly, the only thing going for it over the disks is that its 1 DVD vs 5 disks. All they did was create directories for each disk …

Re: System Shock SVGA problems

in DOS
this is line I added that I finally got to have everything work. Haven't played System Shock for more than an hour at a time. Those older games just give me headaches. C:\sshock\MOUSE2KV.EXE 640 480 8 8 C:\SSHOCK\dos4gw.exe cdshock.exe

Re: System Shock SVGA problems

in DOS
OK, I had a similar problem, and solved it after searching these forums. Apparently, NoLFP wouldn't work if I ran the command prompt in a windowed mode, or if I just ran the batch file. I had to open up the command prompt, put it in full screen mode, find the directory, then run the batch file from …
