I'd be somewhat interested in this myself actually. I did once come across some youtube vid which was basically a music video showing how to reflow some PCI-E graphics card or something lol! I'm pretty sure some of these should exist, perhaps search for something about the recapping of motherboard? …

Hello everyone, At work I like listening to youtube videos from 12voltvids from time to time. He shows how to do hardware repairs on electronics, like televisions. Unfortunately there's nothing on repairing computer hardware. I searched on youtube myself, but I didn't really find anything I liked. …

Seems like it worked! I created a floppy with a tool called WINCRISIS, using the latest BIOS from fujitsu (H2U_A1F.ABL in my case). The filename had to be renamed to BIOS.WPH for the tool. Then, with the switch set to BB enable, I inserted the floppy and turned on the laptop. It started reading the …

I don't know. If your BIOS chip is socketed (I really don't know how this is done for laptops, but I reckon most weren't socketed due to space constraints), I'd say the easiest way is to reflash it somehow, I've heard good things about EPROM burners but never used one myself. Hi everyone, I was flashing this laptop bios with a custom post splash image but something went wrong and after rebooting i only get a black screen and a fan running... no beeps, and no disk access that i could notice. If i remove the ram i get the proper amount of beeps though, so the post works …

advice on soldering station

in Milliways
Hello everyone, I'm looking on some advice on desoldering equipment. I've been trying to fix broken motherboards with bad caps for a few years with very limited success. I've been using rather cheap soldering irons ranging from 30-100(!)W. But almost invariably this proves to be a real pain. The old …

Re: My first retro builds...

Hey, No, my PC isn't on youtube and I'm not from Poland. (like I already said on this thread, I'm from Belgium) Thanks for the info on AT power, I hope to try those 486 boards pretty soon! At the moment I am building a small home network for gaming with these PC's. I have another PIII-500 (a packard …

Re: Windows 95 setup guide (late 2013)

Can I ask how you guys managed to get USB 1.1 support for flash drives going in windows 95? Did you search for compatible usb sticks? Or did you find a working generic driver somewhere? I tried it once but was unable to get it to work, so I use windows 98SE on all my retro pc's. edit: oops, sorry, I …
