I haven't located a 1.0-floppy version of the game yet, so couldn't load your save, but I did locate a more trustworthy 1.0b floppy version (which had not yet been updated with GK1_NRS) and tested that with my previous set of savegames. As I said above, I tested with both dynamic and normal core with the same result. Incidentally, DOSBox's (and Boxer's) default cycles=auto and core=auto settings result in normal core and 3000 cycles for most Sierra games, but Gabriel Knight's protected mode kicks it up to dynamic/max. I've tested with my own (floppy-disk) copy of Gabriel Knight, and the Day 5 freeze does occur in both Boxer and in the standard DOSBox 0.74, on Mac and Windows. I'm not sure who is producing these, nor whether there is some general tool for making them - but I imagine you could duplicate the application and replace the game inside …

Have you tried increasing the frame-skip? This setting skips every n frames, which can smooth out stuttering graphics and sound if the emulator otherwise can't keep up. In Boxer 0.85 you can raise and lower this setting with Cmd-Opt-Up and Cmd-Opt-Down, and the game will remember your settings next …
