Re: Trespasser: No Audio under WindowsXP

in Windows
Hallolujah! I got it to work by installing my old Turtlebeach SantaCruz soundcard!! Now the SantaCruz is working alongside my onboard Nforce2 Soundstorm, so I also had to switch all the windowsXP audio output defaults to the SantaCruz to play Trespasser, and back for other games (Soundstorm is …

Trespasser: No Audio under WindowsXP

in Windows
Hi, this Windows95 game runs well enough except that there is no audio, and my best guess is that the game is simply not detecting the presence of an audiocard. DeviceManager (WinXP + SP2 + DX9c + NForce2 Soundstorm) shows SStorm audio on IRQ22, and my best guess is that this is the problem; that …

Re: System Shock for XP

in DOS
I assume you set up the environment variables for the dos box. If the game is already running you are probably already past this point. I've found when playing on my older system that disabling the L2 cache in bios made SS1 much more stable. On my new system SS1 doesn't always 'come up' properly, …

Snover wrote: Mouse2KV should fix this. Ok, Mouse2kv does make the mouse more responsive in the game, yay! However if I expand the automap to fullsize, the mouse pointer disappears, and when I exit the map by hitting 'q', the game crashes. Any idea what the problem is here? rms

Re: Help!!! No Sound in System Shock 1 under XP

in DOS
Ok, I'm running a nforce2 abit nf7-s board, and SS1 runs great, with basically no tweaking. What I'd be sure to run is ControlPanel/Sound/AudioTab and check that the nvidia choice is in all dropdown boxes. Then run the Install.exe in the SShock dir and set the Auto for both sfx and music and Test to …

Re: System Shock 1: "Can't open COM1" error! Any tips??

in DOS
Woooot!! You are right about the Ignore the com1 error!! All I had to do after that was Maximize and Restore the dos window, and it came right up ! My questions now are: 1) Slow Mouse response in 640x480 mode. I tried raising the windows speed, with little effect. Any dos utility that might help? In …

Re: System Shock 1: "Can't open COM1" error! Any tips??

in DOS
Yes, I've always disabled both onboard serial ports in my nforce2 bios . I tried re-enabling them (the choices are irq3 or irq4), with no effect. I tried searching the registry for com1, and it appears to be associated with the serial controllers, but I don't know what the significance of that might …
