Guys, I’ve got laptop with S3 Savage/IX w/MV. What can you tell me about this card? I was quite surprised to see HW acceleration on it. Games I’ve tried that run without visual artefacts: Quake II, Thief DP, Thief II, Blood 2. But, for some reason, Deus Ex and Unreal look and work like trash. In …

I don’t understand, in Toshiba Sattelite Pro 430CDT I’ve got ESS688 and when I select it as audio device sound effects are awful. But if I select sb 16 pro they sounds good. Why?

Do I understand correctly that the big battery is for standby mode, and allow the main battery hot-swap? I see no other reason why this laptop has two internal batteries. Toshiba Satellite Pro 430CDT Just bought Toshiba Satellite Pro 430CDT. No idea why I did this 😀 But it has OPL 3 chip and despite it's 800x600 with VEXP utility 320x200 can be fully stretched.

Well, maybe i'm a greedy child and don't need another old laptop 😀 I already own Toshiba 2805 with Yamaha with OPL and WaveTable. Both, S3 and GeForce 2go. And I also have Siemens Mobile 710 with a driverless dos-working WaveTable sound card. No idea what this Toshibas with 640x can give me...

The doubling up / overlap of the image suggests to me that it's more likely an LCD panel fault. See how it behaves with VGA output. If VGA output is fine when check whether the LCD cable is making a good connection, then try out an alternative panel. I've got a Tecra 750CDT with damaged video …
