Night of the Hermit is an AGS game, it should work with Win98 compatibility mode without the need for DosBox. Give it a try... Edit: Ok, downloaded the game, you need to rename Hermit.exe to ac2game.dat and then run ACWIN.EXE No compatibility mode needed for this and it works fine under WinXP. Good …

I must admit, I don't have an original of this game (where did you get yours from, do they ship internationally?), but when I tried installing I didn't get any errors. I figured it was because it was tampered with... but I guess it's just a copy from the original...

Did you make a CD image of the game, or are you playing from a real CD-ROM drive? I would recommend making a CD image and to mount it with DOSBOXs IMGMOUNT. If this doesn't work, please post a save game of the file, and I'll try it on my copy of the game.
