Combine scaler with basic bicubic?

Scalers go up to 3x, or 4x in the Dosbox-X fork, but on a high resolution screen that's still pretty pitiful for 320x200 modes. With scaler set to none, you get automatic bicubic interpolation up to your set windowed or fullscreen resolution. Unfortunately, it seems like it's impossible to combine …

Re: Big anniversary coming

People just use fresh "unofficial" releases if have problems in 0.74. If to publish SVN as official it will not become better. That's not true at all; probably more than 90% of people using it are doing it through Steam of GoG and never touching config files, let alone hunting down alternate …

Re: DOSBOX and dual cores?

CPU frequencies and bus latencies in dual-core/dual-proc situations aren't a problem, it's race conditions, data exchange, and deadlocks that are the bane of multiprocessing and cause so many crashes for the unwary, and sometimes cause degraded performance for single-cores.

Re: Recording to Video

If regular divx-type video plays fine and you have the latest video drivers, it's probably the codec still. Something's causing the U&V planes to be swapped, but it's hard to get them unswapped and I have no experience with x64 so I don't know any special tricks there.

Re: Convert Video's using Windows Media Encoder

mpeg on the other hand I could never in good conscience recommend to anyone with more than a 66mhz 486. >.> So all the billions of dvds sold are just bought by people with old 486s? ;) That's mpeg-2, and that's 4-8 megabits a second, a whole different league from someone recording video on their …

Re: Convert Video's using Windows Media Encoder

WMV's actually pretty easy to edit; even with microsoft's stranglehold on apps that parse it, it's easy to mux to mkv or avi with freely available tools, or convert to something else with many tools. Not to say it's very easy, or a particularly good codec, but at least it's not totally closed …

Re: A few issues with 0.65...

The whole of dosbox is pretty radically different, it has been quite a while since .63. 😉 Did you try other renderers? Also, perhaps try one of the cvs compiles with D3D; at least in my case, it runs faster and with less stutters, but I'm on ATI (ogl supposedly should work better with nvidia).

Re: D3D fullscreen hang w/ ATI X1400

If I exit dosbox normally, it does contain the usual text; I guess the write buffers don't get flushed when it hangs. I could try to force-flush them with a tool, once I get back to the second screen, but I doubt it would illuminate anything since nothing showed on the status window before it closed …

Re: D3D fullscreen hang w/ ATI X1400

Nothing reported in either with the option (also got a glimpse of the status window without it, before it closed, nothing changes in it either). Scaler's always none. fullresolution=original windowresolution=original changing the fullres doesn't actually change the res, must hang before that. ( …

Re: Recording to Video

That probably means that ZMBV codec is for whatever reason incompatible with x64 windows. Try asking on the ffmpeg or vlc mailing list. Also, devs: http://www.compression.ru/video/ls-codec/screen_capture_codec_en.html http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=109258 This might be an interesting codec, …

D3D fullscreen hang w/ ATI X1400

D3D is great, much faster windowed mode than opengl on my system (ykhwong's 4/7/06, core duo 1.66, ati X1400 mobility, omega drivers 3.8.221, 2 gb ram). However, it hangs when I switch to fullscreen, which the other modes don't (although some crash). It happens in text and vesa modes; I'm mostly …
