Re: X-Men: Madness in The Murderworld

Would be better to support the legitimate owners and make the pirates adapt, rather than the other way around, but that's my opinion. If you're dealing with already-cracked copies, no external fixes are needed for Contra or X-Men when using a CVS build with cputype=386_prefetch. BTW, Pentiums …

Constant FM sound effects

Some games use the FM operators to generate constant (no decay?) sound effects, where the sound continues to be produced indefinitely even though there are no further register writes. This is sometimes done for engine noise in flight simulators, such as Jetfighter 2 and Lightspeed. DOSBox is …

Re: Confused: No CD in Dark Forces

Dark Forces looks for the CD.ID file in the root directory of the drive you indicate is the CD drive. If your mount command is "MOUNT C F:\dosgames" then move the ID file into F:\dosgames and tell the game that "C" is your CD drive (not true, of course, but it works if you have copied ALL of the . …

Re: New version of DOSBox idea

Re: Ultima 8 Mouse Problem

Jumping with both mouse buttons works OK for me. I have applied the 2.12 patch, which does have a change for jump targetting, but I don't recall it not working at all in the unpatched game... I'd have to reinstall to check it. I'm on WinXP, though, so perhaps there is an OS-specific issue.

Re: Dinotopia file not opened?

The warning you're getting when mounting the D drive occurs when you try to mount a hard disk path as a CDROM. Which drive letter in Windows is your CD drive? I suppose the warning could be in error, though... what is listed if you do a "DIR D:" command after that mounting?
