yes, a pure DOS boot disk does accomplish much if you have a FAT 32 partition. it lets you boot into pure DOS with a functioning hard drive think of it this way: if you're using a pure DOS boot disk, you're not booting windows xp. so, in recap: partition your hard drive. make one portion NTFS, the …

if you own a copy of x-com tftd, download the gold version which runs under windows. get the patch attached, and download the program "turbo" (i'll attach it in another post if you can't find it). turbo fixes speed problems within windows. There! X-com running perfectly!

yeah, i hit usenet, emule, and gnutella and it seems the 256 color version is indeed extremely rare. oh well. time for a dual boot.

thanks. sounds like a good place to start! It would be cool if there were a list of paypal accounts for all the old developer teams. I'd totally shoot a fiver to, say, legend entertainment. I try to buy games when I can but, as we know, there are some that just aren't available any more.

I have a legal CDROM of Beneath a Steel Sky and, of course, it doesn't work blahblahblah. But I was wondering if there were anyway to get an ISO of the Amiga version and run it with WinUAE as a temporary fix until scumm supports it.

i used to do wasd (actually esdf 'cause i'm a weirdo) + mouselook in the oldie DOS version by mapping the mouse Y axis to look up/down. it worked pretty well, especially for LAN parties. but yeah, the engine wasn't really made for it (try looking down at baddies... yuck)
