sry my bad, by "start it directly" i meant running the frontier.exe directly under dosbox not dobbleclicking on it from windows. 😀 and dont use this .bad file it is complete useless...

i cant reproduce this problem. game starts up normally with all video modes, sound settings and joystick enabled/disabled. even if the files are write-protected... i've also tryed different core/cycle and audio settings in dosbox.conf without a single crash or freeze. maybe you have a bad or broken …

thanks guys. i found the demo version on an old game magazine cdrom and this one works with soundfx (sb16) and music (general midi). with roland mt-32 the game starts but has no music ingame. could be a limitation from the demo. i'll do some further testing...
