Monster Fusion made by Diamond (basically a 16MB voodoo2 + 2D in 1 card) That's a 3dfx Voodoo Banshee. They're not quite a Voodoo2 (one TMU) but they still allow hi and low res, it's more like a crippled early Voodoo3 :) Also Unreal worked on my banshee, though Unreal isn't exactly an "early" glide …

That'd probably be a good idea. The UT demo wasn't released in a GHz world (fastest CPU was 600MHz at that point), perhaps 436 will work out better with all that post-release code refinements and the like. Dunno if UTBench.dem is compatible though

The CPU is very weak relatively to the requirements neccessary for it. I don't think the DS could even handle Alley Cat or ZZT, much less support the minimum resolution required for anything (320x200 is the lowest standard resolution. You can go lower in Mode X though, and you can fake 160x100x16 …

I do not own a copy of MS DOS 6 You don't have to. Windows 98SE comes with its own mini MS-DOS 7 (found in and loaded from C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND). or you could just use the little MS-DOS that comes with Windows 98. 😜 Any specific reason for using FreeDOS over MS-DOS for gaming? I've never heard of any real advantages of doing so. OF course my question is in the matter for serious playing rather than intense regression testing.

i've never had a q2 installation problem on 98, though it helps to know early Quake2 masters (3.05) autorun to a DirectX installer rather than the appropriate Quake2 autorun setup itself.

Yes that's obviously the Geforce3. The Lithtech engine stopped supporting secondary video devices such as the Voodoo2 since 2001. It takes clever workarounds to even get the thing to run AVP2. k6-3 definitely. On the k6-2 line I couldn't even tell a real-world difference between 300 and 500 so the extra 50mhz push might be marginal at best.

DX11 games seem to draw alot of cpu juice So the hardware tesselation is a lie? There are big differences between DX9 and DX11. Remember Half Life 2 where you could select between DX7,8 and 9? The only visible difference was the water! There's also the stupid lowres-cubemap-on-everything too.
