heh my system is similar (same processor, diff video and sound and half the ram, 13gb hd as 8, AMIBIOS, M919 3.4B), except I don't have a working 5inch floppy drive nor a working serial port. It's quite slow for Quake 🙁

ps: I am not using a voodoo2 this is with a 8800gts Well yeah that's no help since that DLL was specialized for Voodoo cards. Deleting it would just make the game run in a slow software mode for a 3dfx user. :sly: no it wont it will use the dll in your windows system folder Voodoo2 cards are …

Maybe the Windows Sound System DOS drivers will help. Unfortunately Google's a PITA for looking for that. It does however contain a program that enables SB emulation through WSS. Perhaps it'll do a better job than the tsr this card provides. Where's this?

For reference here's a rather noisy recording of Doom E1M1, ymf262. The waveforms in this should be your target 😀 A bigger challenge is Heretic E1M5, which no emulator gets right ever!

Just to clarify, QBasic is free with DOS and I think MS used to offer it as a free download on their site, but QuickBasic (the full version that compiles EXEs) is not free.
