Re: Table Fog & 8-bit Paletted Textures

Paletted textures seem to be a much more obscure issue. So far, I'm actually struggling to find games where the lack of that feature makes a clearly visible difference. Final Fantasy 8 being the one example that I have so far. If someone else knows of any other games where this is the case, feel …

Re: Table Fog & 8-bit Paletted Textures

FF8's one of those games that expressly disable dithering in Direct3D so that '3dfx 22-bit advantage' can't be gained either :P Also that Dino Crisis fence looks like alphatest threshold inconsistencies (3dfx is GT0 there) but it's even more confusing when the alpha channel isn't filtered with the …

Re: 3D Flying Objects Screen Saver and Voodoo 3

They're frame capped, so even if they were accelerated, it'll be a case of schrodinger's acceleration (though 3D Maze is definitely NOT accelerated even on Win2000) Make sure the desktop's in 16-bit color at least. It'd be extremely hard to tell though as it'll technically run as a window (won't …

When the workflows and changes are done, would there be attempts to pull into their upstreams? I know a lot of showstoppers go into mingw/gcc and sdl2 politics and/or "windows" targeting that'll likely end in shrugs. One useful tool for some of the platform-regressive WinSock2 matters can be done …

Re: PCem v17

VHD PSA If you're on Windows, and you're using differencing VHDs and you live in a DST'ing time zone, uncheck "automatically adjust clock for Daylight Saving Time" in your Windows time zone settings. This will restore access to the diff VHDs you have made before the DST change. This issue has been …

Re: PCem performance issues with Ryzen 7 5800X System

The TMUs don't get threads. Splitting 3dfx into more threads just renders more of the lines in parallel. A ryzen might be fine with 4. CPU and sound emulation share the same one thread, then the video (host video) gets a thread, and then secondary video if enabled (3dfx, 1 to 4 threads, SLI can …

Re: PCEM17 on I7 vs I9?

Midtown Madness 2 has safedisc, so that's normal behavior for ISOs to not satisfy those checks (but passing the real CD can as it's checking on certain sectors and passing). Also there's currently a performance bug with CD access eating at the CPU thread.
