Re: Where do I find new cases with PC speakers still in them(as well as 300W+ PSUs with -5V power)? Also, Win98SE under

According to the manual for the AWE 64 it has a speaker input under the CD inputs, see secton 1-2: http://ccftp.creative.com/manualdn/Manuals/TSD/877/english.pdf As for power supplies, if the connector from the PS fits your motherboard it should supply the necessary voltages as far as I know. If you …

Re: fat16 vs fat32

I keep a Fat16 partition on my Win98se machine just for absolute compatibilty but I don't remember finding and games that don't work with Fat32 but work with Fat16, of course with disk utilities the story is different. The biggest issue I've seen with games on Fat32 is that a lot of them don't like …

Re: Pentium 4 Server motherboard with ISA slots?!

Thanks for the links Bestemor. Wow, pretty spendy at, $350 to $400 US. I may have to hold off for now :depressed: I would prefer 2 ISA slots as well so I could have both my SB16 and SCC-1 but the 865 and 915 LGA 775 chipsets don't offer that much more in the way of processor support than my current …

Re: CMOS battery question, other mobo stuff...

Something like this should work for you: http://www.cyberguys.com/templates/searchdetail.asp?productID=1746 Edit - No manual but I did find some info on the jumper settings: SUPERMICRO P55CMA, P55CMS (REV. 2.0) Processor Pentium Processor Speed 75/90/100/120/133/150/166MHz Chip Set Intel Video Chip …

Re: Which vlb video card to get?

I've had the ATI mach32 vlb since it first came out and never had any problems with VGA or EGA compatibility. The only problems I had with mine were with a handful of older CGA games, one I remeber being Monuments of Mars. And ATI stepped up to the plate and actually sent me a new version of the …

Re: Two Sound Blasters in One System

Yep, I did this for a while when the SB16 first came out since it wasn't 100% SB compatible and didn't work with all my games. So I left my original SB in my computer along with it. I set up batch files to change the blaster variable on the fly as well.

Re: The Efficient Sound Device Collection

Another disadvantage of using the SCC-1 to emulate a MT-32 from a gaming perspecitve is that it doesn't support the sysex commands that a lot of games use to create their own custom sounds on the MT32. But that being said, I still think the SCC-1 is a great GM card and MPU interface for a MT-32 or …

Re: Pentium 4 Server motherboard with ISA slots?!

Microsoft still includes the MPU-401 driver with XP, when you go to the Add Hardware wizard, choose the option to manually select from a list, choose Sound, video and game controllers, select Microsoft as the manufacturer and MPU-401 Midi as the device, then configure the resources to match the …

Re: Pentium 4 Server motherboard with ISA slots?!

the SMBus is the interface that monitor chips use (so u can see the cpu temp, fan speeds etc) you cannot disable it in modern systems... also, I was under the impression that XP does not support the ISA bus... do ISA cards really work under XP??? Ahh..thanks, I had googled it a bit before but never …

Re: Pentium 4 Server motherboard with ISA slots?!

I've been using the soyo PE845 ISA board for quite a while now and can recommend it. It has no issues with my sb16/SCC-1 in dos/win98se or WinXP. The only shortcomings is that it only supports one floppy, so I have to manually change the cable when I want to use my 5.25 floppy and I'm having some …
