Ultimate Body Blows

What I have here is a rather minor problem, but still it is rather bugging me that I can't fix it. I have an original Ultimate Body Blows CD here. It has several RedBook audio tracks and around 5MB of data. I can run the game fine, but in spite of various CPU type settings and trying to create a BIN …

Re: Installing Jungle Strike from CD-ROM

Never mind, I've just found a workaround: * Install Jungle Strike and press "N" when asked if you want video sequences. The installer will then avoid the CD-ROM speed check. * Open up the Jungle Strike folder on your hard drive. * Open the file JUNGLE.BAT in Notepad. Then change @D:\JUNGLE HD %1 %2 …

Re: Installing Jungle Strike from CD-ROM

I'd like to necro this thread (as opposed to pointlessly starting a new one) as I have precisely the same problem. I have the Desert Strike/Jungle Strike CD-ROM. Desert Strike works without any complaints. Jungle Strike on the other hand locks up with the message "Checking speed of CDROM drive. …

Re: Fix: Lemmings CD

The CD version has CD audio, and includes both Lemmings and Oh No More Lemmings. So there are more levels compared to lemmings by itself, but it should be equivalent to having both. The CD should have 24 audio tracks on it. An actual CD or CD image that includes audio plays music just fine. My …

Fix: Lemmings CD

For those of you who have the very first Lemmings in DOS form on CD (not the later Win95 version of Lemmings), you'll probably find that you will not have any luck installing the game directly off CD (regardless of what you do, the installer will not acknowledge that the CD is in the drive), and …

Re: Caesar 2

Instead of starting a new thread, I'll drag this one up, because I have a similar problem, and I think I know what the OP was getting at. Caesar 2 for Windows won't work on my PC, which is why I'm using the DOS version. Plus the DOS version looks better. There's actually just one fairly trivial but …

Re: ISO/CUE music tracks problem

Actually I created both the ISO+MP3s and BIN/CUE sets directly from the CD, but that's six of one and half of dozen and the other. I reripped the audio tracks as OGGs and modified the CUE file, and it worked beautifully! Thanks!

ISO/CUE music tracks problem

I've been trying to get Blade of Destiny/Schicksalsklinge working as an ISO image and MP3 files running for a while now. The original CD works fine - the music tracks play off the CD perfectly well. When I make a BIN/CUE file of the CD, this works fine too. What I'm trying to do, however, is create …

Zoo Tycoon 1 - Marine Mania, show script issues

in Windows
Hi all, Anyone having problems with the Marine Mania expansion, specifically in regard to opening the show script window. The tutorial claims that I should click on the feeding platform to open said window, but no matter where I click or what I press, the game simply does not want to open this …

Re: New member having problems with some Windows 95 games...

in Windows
I think they will begin to pop up soon. I mentioned a long time ago on this forum the idea of forking DOSBox to create an application designed for running older Windows titles. I can well imagine that DOSBox will either be adapted to run Win95 or a seperate project making use of the CPU core, sound …

Re: Idea for the website: confirmed solutions subforum/wiki

in Milliways
I know what you mean, I downloaded it, but what I mean is information on getting not only DOS titles but also older Windows titles running on modern PCs. I would even argue that DOS games these days are the easiest to get running. Chances are you can just chuck it into DOSBox and it'll run fine. …

Re: Idea for the website: confirmed solutions subforum/wiki

That only pertains to DOSBox's own compatibility. I mean a wider view of fixes for PC games as an all-in-one reference for retro gamers to use. As a couple of examples: Arx Fatalis: there's a texture patch floating around that fixes the issue of missing textures on modern PCs. forcegdi=1 has to be …

Idea for the website: confirmed solutions subforum/wiki

in Milliways
As some of you might know, it can be a bit of a job searching for solutions on this page, as searching for a certain title will often result in dozens of requests for help and the actual solution may be lost in all of this. Mightn't it be an idea to create a subforum containing ONLY solutions to …
