Thanks for info, it's really noticable speed up. I will test on my GTX970, I expect it's affected the same as 980.

Yes but window switching bios calls would probably make it much slower regardless setting WC...

Good idea, unfortunatelly I don't have any from this range, only 230, 270, 670, 970. Couldn't you extract from full image file for card vbios update? No, it cannot be moved to different partition size without changing specific values in bootsector image, you would have to boot DOS from other media, run sys command to create new bootsector on your new partition and then save it to file. Then repair NT bootsector from install media or via bootprep …

The only thing needed for NTOS dual booting is to save existing bootrecord from partition (DOS bootrecord, not MBR) to a file (there are various tools to do this), e.g. bootsect.w98 and then, after installing WinNT/2k/XP add one line to boot.ini: C:\bootsect.w98="Your old DOS name" if it was not …

OK, I tried to run it for ~8 minutes and it was still running so I stopped it. DOS window still could be opened. As I have to use VBEMP the window opening/redraw was slower so it might run less cycles than with accelerated SVGA driver, there's no counter...

BTW an utitilty MemTurbo offerend some kind of memory defrag. You can try if it will restore system to working state instead restart.

What you mean by "force new Vmware PCI driver in device manager instead of original Vmware one"? Replacing a driver from your old installation? In my case it just installed driver from SoftGPU package instead std. VGA driver.
