Re: SBEMU: Sound Blaster emulation on AC97

Oh I understand, I'm also poor in reading huge ASM projects and rather write in C. The CWSDPMI is written in Borland C probably with some inline ASM code. SBEMU sound output level is just fine on SB Audigy but on VSBHDA is a magnitude or so lower. It was explained it's due to mixing code. BTW I see …

Re: Yamaha YMF7x4 Guide

If you have a CD-ROM with both outputs then both should send the audio signal when playing without any special setting, it should work out of the box. In the past I had Teac CD-RW with digital out connected to SB-Live CD digital input and it worked fine, SB mixer had separate volume control for …

Re: SBEMU: Sound Blaster emulation on AC97

That's one of the reasons why I wrote yet another DPMI server (or not just a DPMI server but a supervisor/vm), which is planned to has driver support, not using vendor api to add port trapping, but builtin loadable drivers like VXD, i.e. video driver that features VBE to v86 and pm. it's hard but …

Re: Testing floppy drive on secondary LPC SuperIO board - need for some test code that use PIO and not DMA for FDC handl

Thanks to user Laaca who pointed me the right direction to a DOS FDC test utility that can run with and WITHOUT DMA! https://github.com/joncampbell123/doslib/tree/master/hw/floppy I tried to run test.exe and for some reason it detected DMA 2 enabled by default but it can be disabled in the menu. …

Re: Testing floppy drive on secondary LPC SuperIO board - need for some test code that use PIO and not DMA for FDC handl

Yes, I'm aware about this general problems but I intend primary use the floppy under DOS that is single thread and I could even disable interrupts and just polling. There already existed noDMA floppy implementations in some HP Omnibook so maybe that was reason why Linux implemented nodma in floppy …

Testing floppy drive on secondary LPC SuperIO board - need for some test code that use PIO and not DMA for FDC handling.

Hi, I returned a bit to my old project started many years ago. It's SuperIO expander test board with W83627HF attached to LPC (via TPM header). The purpose was to bring back legacy peripherals like FDC, LPT and COM to relative modern MBs (that still has LPC but don't have this). You may use Google …

Re: SBEMU: Sound Blaster emulation on AC97

While not the scope of this project, an excellent companion project would be a modern revival of univbe for the 'modern' IGPs found in the target system generation (2005 to 2015, being about the sweetspot, it seems), as the combination would be very powerful. Yes, new univbe would be nice. But …

Re: Rendition Verite Thread

my card have 4 chip too but it's 128k bank memory, yours is 256k (I think the rendition use 2 chip for texture and 2 other for another things, the sale brochure say that it use 2x64 bit so it may need 4 chip, correct me if I mistaken) (Also I plans to try to change the chip on my card for faster …

Re: Rendition Verite Thread

Nice photos, yeah, that cool times when the 1st gen. of 3D accelerators doesn't require even a heatsink, neither a fan, nor took 3 slots nor sucked a kilowatt from aux PSU cables... :) I remember playing Unreal 1st time on Voodoo1 and P166@200 also was not much high FPS thriller but the graphics was …
