Re: Does VDMSound work under WinXP+SP3?

Thanks, good to know! I have intel C2D, P31 chipset, SB live 1024 and 7900GT. Did you installed any further updates after SP3? Do you use english or localized version? When I come back at home I'll try pure SP2 without hotfixes. I can't remember what else I installed that could such affect the …

Re: Does VDMSound work under WinXP+SP3?

I have a multiboot setup so don't need to loose time with making comlpette patition image :) So I installed XP-SP2 but problem with VDM sound persist, sound is chopped. I also tried older ver 2.04 but the same. But I remember that I slipstreamed many hotfixes after SP2 to my install image so the …

Re: Does VDMSound work under WinXP+SP3?

Damn... I tried to install SP2 but it refused to install because newer SP3 has installed. I didn't let SP3 setup create backup files so I cannot uninstall SP# any way. S I'll try to make new SP2 install and then try to figure out if it depends on some DLL, driver or registry setting. If we will have …

NVClock 0.8 beta 4 for DOS and Win32

in DOS
Hi, during my nvidia hacking journey I remembered linux tool NVclock which can do various O'C settings and also display debug info about nV cards. So I decided to make Win32 and DOS port. They are not ideal but works. A question for DOS/DJGPP programmers about memory mapping - see bottom of readme: …

Re: UniRefresh no longer works on nVidia's latest

in DOS
I have the same issue on newer nVidia VGAs starting 6600GT, 7300GT and 7600GS. This problem is probably present on 5xxx and all later cards. It doesn't matter who manufactured your VGA card because they mostly use nVidia reference BIOS with slightly modification to timings. I was talking about it …

Re: Best DOS video card?

Yes Imagine was not much good for games but nice accelerated 3D Studio 4.0 and AutoCAD. Here's my photo: http://rayer.ic.cz/350d/Number%20Nine%20Imagine%20128-4MB.jpg I used It quite short time, but it's nice piece of HW so i keep it in my collection. I also have S3 Vision 968 - SPEA Mercury P64V, …

Re: Best DOS video card?

#9 made cool cards, I still have #9 Imagine 128 - first 128bit 2D accelerator. It has onboard separated Cirrus VGA chip (can be disabled by jumper) and big Imagine128 chip, 175MHz RAMDAC and 4MB VRAM. But supported only VBE 1.2 quite old card I think 1994

Re: Best DOS video card?

I had Riva128 back in the day and was totally turned off by it's very obvious blurry 2D. It really was the worst 2D quality (not speed, that was great) that I had ever seen. Yes sure, image quality of nVidia cards depended on manufactures, the VGA chip itself is good. If you bought some noname or …

Re: VBEMP (Universal for NT)

Yes, I know this drives. It's only way how to run NT 4.0 in higher modes than 640x480/16 on newer nVidia VGA 7xxx/8xxx. The latest nVidia forceware 77.78 supports chips till 6800 only. VBEMP works fine for me, also use framevbe.dll replacement to speed up the drawing which helped a lot. The only …
