Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

Hi Chris, I have only the demo of Archimedean D, which formerly I tried to get work with dgVoodoo with the same experience you described. There were "scenes" where it worked and there were ones where it didn't. I noticed that AD crashes due to a dividing by zero exception. At that time I debugged …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

- When force bilinear filtering is enabled, the external cockpit window of the Yellow Hawk wasn't shiny (haven't tried with the Red Eagle). - Camera overlay on the top left is not completely visible when using cockpit view. OK, I'll have a look at and fix them. I want to fix as many bugs as …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

Hi Vigilante! I'm glad this wrapper works well for you and you like it! Also, thanks for your feedback. I have good news about those glitches: yesterday I realized that there is an undocumented and obsolete so-called delta0 mode in glide. I implemented it, and it fixed the line color bug in …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

Hmm.. just to make sure: do you set the platform to dos in the setup? There are two configurations in a glide2x.dll, one for windows games and one for dos games. If you select the dos in setup and do config, it should work. (server mode only can be used if you uncheck "working in vdd mode" in setup …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

85 fps? It's wonderful... :happyhappy: Hopefully the next version will make it slow down to hell as I wrote before. :happyhappy: :happyhappy: Try to lower the refresh frequency manually to 60-70hz or so in the setup, or check option "monitor freq is the closest supported freq" (it sets the ref. freq …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

I've whipped up a new build of glide2x.ovl. Try this, it searches glide2x.dll in the current directory first. Sc rally: while I was galvanizing life into a new lfb caching-flushing method, I realized that sc rally reads the lfb during the game. It means its fps should go down to the hell when a 32 …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

Hi all! First of all, I'm glad if new version really works much better in DOS. Carmageddon: I have problems with fog, because the background texture is not in fog (rarely it is in). Barev, could you specify what minor glitches there are in Carm, hopefully I could fix them later. Ice, thank you very …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

I've released a new version, but don't expect too much. I'm lazy and dejected nowadays. It should run Screamer 2, S Rally and Carmageddon (altough there is a fog issue in Carm, I think). I also haven't dealed with how to start Sc2 under XP (if it will be problematic) :happyhappy: :happyhappy: : …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

Thanks DoomGazer, I have the abandonware version of Blood, and I use it IN exactly the same way you wrote it. The slowdown problem (slowmotion) comes out under XP (and 2k) due to the following: There are two threads, one for the DOS program, and one for the DX-rendering code. While the …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

Craig! It's needless to try with newer drivers. Weird colour scheme is the fault of the wrapper, not your driver (I ment this thing under texture bug). Unfortunately, I didn't managed to get the files from the dvd I've mentioned. Ice, thank you for offering your help! As for the glide version …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

I'm working on a new version. I've tried it with Screamer rally (thanks Craig for the stuff!), and it worked under w98 as well as xp. There is, however, a texture-bug coming out with w98 in 1.22b, which is due to a designing mistake in the communication. I can't get Screamer2 to run because of some …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

Uhh, those are very very large values. Ok, I've just reloaded a new 1.22b on my page :happyhappy: , try that. I've studied the code, and there was a point where I set the dos thread priority to high. It didn't cause any problem on my hyperthreading p4, but when I set the affinity to one processor, …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

I was searching on the web, and found the following info about ATI + w buffer: Radeon 9500+ cards no longer supports w buffer and 32 bit z buffer. :dead: I was hoping those are disabled in driver level but somewhere else I read that w buffer support is absent in Rx3x0 GPUs. I also saw that …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

Tried in in NFS2SE: pretty much the same unfortunately. Somehow I'm not surprised. There is a thing I haven't talked about so far. When I got my new computer and tried my wrapper with my GeForce, I noticed that w buffering doesn't work with it. I quickly started finding out what could the problem …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

OK Craig, I'll send you my address, thanks for your help in anticipation! (I have a DVD drive). Ableeker, what do you mean under test partition? I'm going to compile a logging version of the glide2x.dll for the new version to make problems be detected easier. Barev, this resetting thing sounds as if …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

DoomGaZer, yes, I think it's a problem has something to do with win95 compatibility, altough setting win95 compatibility for SW 3dfx doesn't change anything for me (to be quite frank, I don't know what EXACTLY those compatibility modes does). It's possible that the solution is very simple, but I …
