I don't like Mantle simply because I don't like ATI/AMD Video hardware and drivers. I've had 3 cards die on me ever. 2 were voodoo 2s which I eventually solved by getting special fans, and the third was an ATI x850 xt PE. I think all AWE 64 cards were PNP. I would try the card in a different slot if you can. Maybe there's a conflict with that particular slot, I know motherboards I've had shared resources depending on the particular slot...I dunno just trying to give you something to try.

This is a problem I've encountered even with vanilla Dosbox I believe. You have to find just the right number of cycles to run otherwise you get the stuck button pushes/ignored pushes. Were there even versions of Win 95 CDs that were bootable? Might you not have to install and configure DOS first including CD-ROM drivers? At least your going to have to use a properly configured boot disk or USB stick or what have you.
