Re: Reelmagic/Realmagic MPEG games

in DOS
Hope it is OK to bump this old thread, but with some assistance from vetz we have now archived the Reelmagic version of Flash Traffic. It comes on 3 CD's which I think might be a contender for the biggest commercially released DOS game? https://i.imgur.com/9QOfVZl.jpg Still hoping that one day we …

Re: SBPRO2 + SB16 same system

Out of curiosity, is there a list of games which have stereo sound, support the SBPro but don't support the SB16? Not that I’m aware of. Wolf3d is usually cited as an example, however it is incorrect as it does work in stereo with an SB16. There’s some discussion here https://www.vogons.org/ …

Re: SBPRO2 + SB16 same system

No practical reason to use them both. Unless you're SB Pro low-pass filter connoisseur or desperately need stereo sound in one of the few games which do not have SB16 support. Out of curiosity, is there a list of games which have stereo sound, support the SBPro but don't support the SB16? Not that …

Re: SBPRO2 + SB16 same system

1) Do you think it makes sense this decision? I'be been reading various opinions to this subject. Not really. There's not a big difference between these cards in practical terms. 2) In the affirmative case, which would be the correct way to a proper configuration daisy-chaining both cards? You will …

Re: Any others given up on the hobby?

in Milliways
I still lurk but rarely post these days. I've still got my old rigs but they don't get taken out of the cupboard very often. Since having a son and buying an old fixer-upper house I don't get a whole lot of free time. I'm sure I'll catch the bug again and pick the hobby up once I find the time for …

Re: Issues with ReelMagic EM7011 ISA card

I have completed the RealMagic version Return to Zork on my 386 and I didn't have any of the issues described here. You can see pics of my card here: Re: ReelMagic MPEG Decoder running Return to Zork Mine does use the VESA feature connector so perhaps the problems are related to VGA passthrough.

Re: Reelmagic/Realmagic MPEG games

Thanks to exofreeze for finding one more REALmagic game - 'Entity' by Loriciel! Unfortunately I am not able to reply with private messages... Hang tight... I have acquired an extensive "Reelmagic" library and own several models of the elusive mpeg board. Out of town but once I get back I'll look …

Re: What game are you playing now?

in Milliways
I haven’t noticed any performance issues however I did upgrade my rig last year which probably helps. I’m playing on Very High settings with an I5 8400 and a GTX960 and seems to run pretty well.

Re: Old games that had CD Audio tracks?

in DOS
So is this list for 'any game that had at least one redbook audio track on the disc' or 'games that actually played redbook audio tracks for in game music'? Colonization That was only the (comparatively rare) Windows version. The DOS version just used FM or MIDI. King's Quest 6 - Heir Today, Gone …

Re: What game are you playing now?

in Milliways
I've started replaying Kingdom Come: Deliverance. A new patch and DLC dropped recently so I decided to start another playthrough. I really rate this game, reminds me a little bit of morrowind minus the fantasy and magic. Probably my favourite game to come out of the last few years after Prey.

Re: CRT monitor whining

A lot of CRT's whine especially as they get older. It can be coils on the PCB, the flyback transformer, the windings on the yoke... often the glue/lacquer used on these components has broken down and is allowing them to vibrate. One trick you can try to isolate the noise is take the cover off (being …
