They come in those boxes (not DVD cases, thicker and bigger) because they're the Japanese FM Towns CD-ROM versions. They're better than the DOS versions in many cases - for example, the FM Towns version of Zak McKracken is the only version in 256 colors and it has CD audio music as well.
