Cycle accuracy in cpu core?

I haven't really looked into the way the cycles/etc code and stuff actually works for the dosbox 80x86 cpu core, but are the number of cycles consumed per opcode consistent with documentation for the 8086, 80286, 80386, etc? Someone told me a while back that the cycle code in dosbox consumed ONE …

Re: How do I get the ROM of my RAP-10 card?

If you want to extract the rom, you'll have to do it the old fashioned way: You'll need to desolder the rom chips from the card, and read them using a rom reader. If you're really dead-set on doing this, I can provide additional information. Currently dosbox does not emulate the rap-10 card in any …

Re: Munt development ?

Yep, its a digital rip from a v1.07 rom, pcb 01 unit. This is the HIGHEST POSSIBLE QUALITY you can extract from a v1.x mt-32 (15-bit digital)! Its digital all the way from the chip to the computer, no analog whatsoever! (A v2.x mt-32 and a cm-32L/LAPC-1 do 16-bit digital, but have some differences …

Re: soundblaster midi?

I don't know, but don't forget that the first soundblaster card to TRULY support midi was the sb16. the sbpro and sb 2.0 had gameports which had the midi functionality, but afaik they could only be used as midi INPUTS, as they were not mpu401 compatible. the sb16 was. Lord Nightmare

Re: Digital Audio from a Yamaha OPL2/3 chip

The games in the pinball dreams series are also capable of playing digital audio via the opl2/opl3. All in all, its actually a fairly elaborate hack: You reset the OPL chip, then use the timer to count out exactly the length of time it takes for the sine envelope to reach the peak of the wave (1/4 …

Re: Missing Riser Card

I have a pile of spare riser cards at home which I was looking to strip for parts. Email me and I'll send you images of them, so you can figure out which one you need. I have at least 3 of them in at least two different types, and i'm pretty sure at least one came from a packard bell. Lord Nightmare …

Re: How to extract MT-32 ROMs?

Grestorn: backlight comes on? but no sound when you play midi into it. hmmm... is the volume knob turned all the way to the right (maximum setting)? try turning it on, then moving the knob to the middle and then the right, and then playing midi into it, and see if you get any sound. *If you DO, then …

Re: Can I use the rom from a LAPC-1?

If you either dumped the rom directly from the chip on the lapc-1 card (you need to desolder it I believe) or got it from someone who did, it MIGHT be usable (I'm guessing its the same bizarre bit-misordered format as the regular MT-32) but will probably need a new offset definition file. You should …

Re: Weekly update

I have a similar problem in linux: cat /dev/midi DOES give MIDI data, but it loses *whole bytes* from the stream of data sent by the keyboard I have attached to the computer. It doesn't do that in windows, from what I can see. Its probably an ALSA bug in the MIDI input system for OPL3-SA2 cards ( …
