Re: DOSBox OS X built for OS X now 64bit

No problem. I am glad to help. I think I further narrowed down this issue. I have found that when switching to windowed mode and moving the Mac mouse cursor rapidly, there is no slow down in the audio. However, clicking back into the DOSBOx window and repeating this with the DOS cursor does cause …

Re: DOSBox OS X built for OS X now 64bit

The Core 2 Dup Macbook, does it behave better with the 0.74 release of DOSBox? Good point. I tested TIE Fighter at SVGA resolution in the 0.74 release on the Core 2 Duo and it works fine. Switching back to SVN 64 bit and the frame rate drops so low it basically hangs. So that one was definitely a …

Re: DOSBox OS X built for OS X now 64bit

in general core=dyamic gives you the best performance. Core=auto will switch automatically to the needed core. Dynrec means the same as dynamic, in 64bit this is slower. Thanks for clarifying that. Generally, I am finding that the slower performance is not noticeable on the i7, and even on …

Re: DOSBox OS X built for OS X now 64bit

I take it that if I am testing with the SVN snapshot by Dominus (or the gs11 build) and use core=dynamic in the dosbox.conf file, then I am using the dynamic x86 core? I am finding that core=dynamic is working for most games and there are only a few older ones that require core=normal. It sounds …

Re: DOSBox OS X built for OS X now 64bit

I have been testing 64 bit DOSBox (both the gs11 and SVN build by Dominus) on a 2013 Haswell i7 iMac with NVIDIA graphics, in High Sierra 10.13.4. I have tried a range of games and they appear to suffer no perceptible slowdown, including a bunch of Sierra AGI and SCI adventures, Rebel Assault 2, …

Re: Ski or Die : mt-32 or adlib

Ok thanks, that works. Sorry, I won't post anything in relation to abandonware again. BTW: I do know how to do a DIR command to find the executable files. I just wasn't familiar with having to modify the command line to change sound drivers - I hadn't seen that in any other DOS games I've …

Re: Dark Seed 2 - sound problem

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I am using an image of the game - I don't have the actual CD in my drive. For the record, the problem occurs either way. Don't know what else I can do to tweak sound settings. It happens with both SB16 or SB Pro specified. It's hard to tell whether its actually a …

Dark Seed 2 - sound problem

I am experiencing an annoying sound problem with Dark Seed 2 (CD version) running in Windows 3.11 on DOS Box 0.72 Specifically, the first few seconds of every individual "segment" of voice audio will stutter, and then the rest of the segment will play normally. I do not have performance issues with …
