Yamaha SW1000XG

Anyone tried this card in DOS? I know it's an overkill to use it for DOS games, but maybe someone has experience with it and would like to share it with us :) ? I'm asking this question because I just spotted someone selling it in Poland: http://allegro.pl/item504561804_yamaha_factory_ds2416_i_ …

Re: Pentium 60

A PPro isn't a good chioce since it lacks MMX instruction set Thats why I like the PII/PIII so much :) I agree what you that a Pentium II, early PIII or an AMD K6 is a better chioce for later DOS games since you benefit from the extra speed and not many games have speed problems fro that era The K6 …

Re: Pentium 60

I think the really big leap in FPU performance came with the PPro. Thats why I think it's not very reasonable to build a Pentium based retro PC: -games using a 3D accelerator will usually run much faster on a Pentium II/III based system -games for which the Pentium II/III is too fast will also run …

retro games 100 wrote: Regarding that SCB-55 listed on ebay you mentioned, I had my beady orbs focused on it, but my hopes were cruelly dashed as the bidding got too high. 🙁 Well, someone sold a SCB-55 a few months ago for 68 euro here, so I guess 60-70 euro how much the board is really worth, at …

Re: Roland RAP-10

Wow... you act like you have a choice in the matter. :surprised: Well, they aren't so rare. I can see someone selling an external SC-55 almost every month here in Poland. For the cards and daughterboards this search on ebay almost always returns some results (currently a boxed RAP-10 ), today there …

Roland RAP-10

Could anyone share their experience with this card? I want to buy a card for Roland MIDI, but I'm not sure which one I want. As far as I know there are basically: SCC-1 , based on the SC-55 SCC-1A , based on the SC-55 MK II SCB-55 , the daughtercard based on the SC-55 MK II , part of the SCD-15 RAP- …

Re: Elsa gfx card

It's a ELSA GLoria Synergy based on Permedia 2. I don't know how well it performs in DOS, but I achieved with it around 20 fps at 640x480 in Quake II (on a 533 MHz Alpha CPU). Here is a review (ELSA Winner 2000 is basically the same card): http://www.sunstorm.com/tech/ft-001r5.htm . Users who look …

Re: Voodoo 5 5500: AGP or MAC PCI?

in PC Emulation
I've got some questions: -How much is a PCI Voodoo 5500 with DVI output worth? (there are 2 on ebay now one for 100$ and on for 120$) -Is the performance hampered by the PCI bus? -Is it easy to flash it with a PC BIOS? (I assume DVI will still work?)
