One of the problems with the &EW chip (as far as I know) is that the write back L1 cache is permanently enabled. Could be a problem if you run into conflicts.

I can't speak for the mitsumi, but Sony SCSI 1X drivers were almost as good as the Sony interface 2X drives. I really like the old 1X and 2X drives. They're solid and have a lot of character. I suppose as long as it causes no conflicts and I don't have to listen to one of them, I am fine with having two OPL3s. Does anyone run a YMF718 and AWE64 in the same system? Does it sound like a good combo? Normally I'd like to just book up with the yamaha and turn the AWE64 on as needed.

I've got YMF 718 pretty well figured out. It's the AWE64G that is potentially the problem. Back when I bought this card new I never really messed with it much in DOS. Does the CTCM utility actually allow you to cherry pick which features you want on and off?

Your cache stick is likely not a cache stick. I didn't look up the numbers, but from what I see the chips are regular 45ns DRAM. More than likely it is a VGA DRAM expansion for an AST motherboard. AST had a habit of using CPU cards in their machines, and that is likely where the cache would be.

An 11.6" laptop is hardly bigger than a netbook, and they weigh about 2 pounds. Last I heard many companies are calling it quits on netbooks. I think the screen resolution on those things was just too low for them to be useful.

I use an Acer One AO752 "netbook". It's actually not a netbook because it uses a dualcore Celeron processor and it's 11.6". It's a lot faster than a netbook too, and the quality is pretty good. I have this card too. I had some kind of address conflict with ET4000W32P VLB on my 486 motherboard, but otherwise a good card. I bought another card from a different company with the same chipset that works perfectly though!
