I now prefer to stick to slot 1 440BX chipset boards for my retro builds. I use these and they work pretty well. ASUS P3B-F in my Win98 machine and an INTEL SE440BX-2 in my Win95/DOS rig. Any luck? I was getting ready to try xcdrom.sys as a way of freeing up a bit more conventional memory, and found this thread while searching. Guess I can save my time on trying this one out. Kind of hoping that maybe you had come across something that works?

Back in February of 2004, MS released a CDROM with all of the updates for Win98 -> WinXP thru October 2003. I ordered a copy of it back then and saved it. ... JoeCorrado, as far as I remember, it worked in my other rig, P233MMX, under windows 98 out of the box with no drivers. I played TES: Redguard on it and tried it with Tomb Raider. In Redguard it was an improvement over keyboard, but Tomb Raider just felt wrong with it. I don't know much when it …
