Also, the driver may well require reinstalling from time to time. Strange. I tried your fluidsynth build on both my Windows 7 64-bit laptop and my Windows 10 64-bit desktop. Both gave me the same error. I will try again file you attached and post the results when I get the chance.

My reasons come simply from a point of convenience. I like simply being able to open up D-Fend Reloaded, double-click the game I want to play, and that's it. Maybe it sounds silly, but if given the choice between opening another application, or not, I will choose the former.

Yes, you need the rate 49716 Hz in order to achieve most accurate OPL emulation. If a game plays adlib/sb music only (or if it sounds just better to your taste), you should set both the mixer rate and oplrate to this value. Unfortunately, with this setting you'll also get aliasing when playing …
