I don't see the point of using a Northwood Celeron either. Socket 478 Celerons are too slow to be useful for anything, and it's not like Pentium 4s are expensive nowadays.

You might be able to identify the board if you run AIDA16 from a DOS boot floppy. Myself, I haven't used it in years, but it's a good tool from what I remember.

The new patch has changed quite a few things, in order to improve compatibility with newer operating systems. It's kinda sad to see since it means it'll be harder to run on older machines, but I still have my old copy of 1.16 kicking around somewhere.

The last time I installed one of the unofficial service packs for 98, it sent performance to a crawl. For most purposes, I think it's better just to stick with stock 98SE and only install what few updates you may actually need (like DirectX 9, USB mass storage support, etc.)
