Windows 9X is not built on top of DOS. It uses it as a bootloader and compat' layer, and sucks its brains out and takes total control of the machine once booted.

Wow ! Thanks a lot Dege ! I had this problem too, as there was no way to fix both the game and the palette problem on the menu. Now both were fixed in an instant ! 😁

This game works fine with Windows 3.11 inside DOSBox. Why not use that ?

It's... complicated. The DVD Version was for owners of Windows 95 and a MPEG-2 decoding card. Old patches floating around remove this limitation and allow the game to use a software decoder. There's not a lot of them. I use GlDirect (OpenGL to Direct3D wrapper) from time to time (useful on Heretic II for when the GPU borks it in OpenGL mode)

Removed imagehelp.dll and dbghelp.dll : it works ! However, when using dgVoodoo (stock configuration) v2.61, loading a mission hangs at the beginning of the loading process. Not a deal breaker (the game works fine wihout it) but I love to use dgVoodoo2 on old games in order to prevent any …

I'm in favor of this option too ! I think I have quite a few games that might benefit from it. I will have to test it a lot (Dark Earth slowing down on an Intel HD4000 with dgVoodoo comes to mind).
