Well DosBox features don't change that much from official CVS. So if you constantly update CVS then you don't really need to since it's mostly bug fixes and not features.....but if you don't update DosBox that often then yeah it's a good idea.

Well, first.... What program are you trying to run in DosBox? You said Arena but what exactly are you typing in? I'm wondering if the Arena file your trying to execute is a SFX archive....

What type of graphics card do you have? What res does the game run in? If your using NOLFB it's probably an Nvidia card and your probably trying to run the game past 640x.... Do the garbled graphics happen in DosBox as well? If not then you'll you can try the WinXPFix Utility which patches XP's vga. …

Dunno, could be normal behavior. Don't have the game so can't check for myself. Try loading the game in NTVDM in XP and/or normal MS-DOS and see if it performs the same behavior. What your asking for is virtualization which basically uses the host processor. VPC/Vmware/DosEmu do this. DosBox\Qemu use emulation.....they both emulate the processor instructions for better compatibility. DosBox and Qemu do this for one simple reason. Compatibility That's the primary focus. …

There's tons of boot loaders out there. It's been quite some time since I played around with 'em tho since the boot loaders that come with NT/Linux work fine for my dual-booting purposes. (Linux/NT or NT/9x or Linux/NT/9x)
