Re: Another sound question

in DOS
Your card emulates a Roland MPU-401 chip, which just does MIDI sounds if I'm not mistaken, and is not needed unless a particular game requires it. I don't know of any games that do though as most let you choose other options like Adlib, SB16, etc. I think the problem is that since ME no longer loads …

Re: Moo & Ems

in DOS
Ok, now I know which game you are talking about :) I just installed it on XP, and you do need to use VDMsound. Other than that it works perfectly once it loads, but for several minutes all I got was a black screen. The scroll lock light should be blinking, be sure to give it enough time to load. …

Re: Moo & Ems

in DOS
I've never heard of moo, I assume it's a game. I don't think XP uses config.sys since it is based on NT and not DOS like Win98. You have to right click on the game executable and click properties to change the memory and other settings. You may also have to use VDMsound to get any audio and joystick …

Re: Interstate '82

in Windows
I had Interstate '82 back when I was running Windows 98 and I never could get it to work right. It would play for a while but it was really choppy, and then it would lock up or something. All of my other games worked fine so I assumed it was a dud and sold it on eBay. I've only played the demo for …

Re: Help with the 7th guest on XP

in Windows
I found this page saying something about a newer version of v32.exe as well as some additional sound drivers. Unfortunately the links point to the old Trilobyte site which doesn't exist any longer. I don't know if these are newer than the ones we have been talking about or not but I'll try to find …

Re: Help with the 7th guest on XP

in Windows
I just tried the puzzle and aside from running too fast it works fine. No crashes anyway. I also tried running it with VDMSound again but I can't get past the video mode error. These are two of my favorite games so I'll keep working with them and if I make any progress I'll post it here.

Re: Help with the 7th guest on XP

in Windows
I have both of the games. Here are my experiences running them with Windows 98 and Windows XP. The 7th Guest - Runs just fine with the DirectX patch. The 11th Hour - Runs a bit too fast with the patch, especially the title screens. The movies play normally, and I could find no other issues with the …
