You can also use UNISOUND now with the GUSpnp instead of IWINIT. Maybe then you don’t need emu386… It seems faster also.

You could try to use the UNISOUND utility to initialize your SB in DOS, it is discussed on this forum. Also, my experience is that you always have to run DIAGNOSE /S (if you don’t use UNISOUND) in DOS. Did you use CTCU to set the resources of the SB?

No, it happens both with unisound and the creative software, but I had silently hoped that unisound did something different😉. Anyway, I don’t know how I can fix it, as they clearly seem to have different resources when initialized in DOS and they also work happily together in Windows 95.

Isn't it true that the OPL chip uses a quarter sine wave stored in ROM to generate the 4 basic oscillator modes? So, "technically", an OPL2 chip is a "wavetable" synthesizer 😊

I can also add from experience that the CF170 has the fixed disk bit set, and operates as a normal IDE disk. For me, the 16GB CF170 card has worked for over a year in my MS-DOS retro PC, but that is of course no long term guarantee. 😉
