An ATX PSU and adapter cable is definitely the way to go if you don't know what you're doing..... as long as the Compaq takes a standard sized power supply - Compaq machines of that time are similar to the Dell machines of today!

Sounds like an AT PSU... you'll have to fix the switch - an ATX PSU can be switched on via shorting two pins in the large multi-way plug, but this is not possible with the AT spec.

Anyone know the best version of the Nvidia drivers to use on Win98SE? I've got the last version, I believe (81.xx) and though my FX5600 works it just doesn't seem as snappy as I remember. Scrolling and moving windows with video playback in progress is quite jerky. Is there a better version to use?

You're able to do 1280 x 1024 in 2 megs of RAM? My 2meg Mach 64 can only do 1024 x 768 and my 4 meg one has to use dithering to get that resolution with any usable number of colors. 1280 x 1024 x 8 = 10485760 bits 10485760 / 8 = 1310720 Bytes 1310720 / 1024 = 1280 KBytes That mode should be well …

It's strange that it needs a driver/tsr loading - as per that DOS screen. None of the other cards that provide an MPU401 device require one - they just get an interrupt and a IO port. Can you try it without the driver/tsr loaded?
