Re: Adventure games on Kickstarter

in Milliways
Kickstarter is the best thing that has happened to gamers in a long while, now you can invest in games that are completely off the scope of major gamepublishers that else would have never been made. On the other hand I think when a kickstarter is very succesfull, like double fine's Broken Age or …

Re: Options you change in games

in Milliways
Very much depends on the game, if it's a racing game I try to maximize fps output, for just about everything else I go for the prettier picture. But yes, a lot of graphic options are just idiotic, for NFS Undercover for instance I had to turn a lot of crap off to actually make it look better. =/ …

Re: What game are you playing now?

in Milliways
Definitely the CD version for System Shock - the voiceover work is really great. Music should rock on an SCC-1 too. Still one of my all-time favourites, moreso than the sequel. Also for the higher resolution options and the for its time very good intro animation. I finished this game two years ago …

Re: JOYSTICK ... favorite?

An update: I bought a gameport-usb adapter to make my MS Sidewinder FFB Pro work, but it doesn't work. Apparently I do have to have a pci card with gameport to make it work. =(

Re: JOYSTICK ... favorite?

in Milliways
By the way does anyone have experience with getting gameport joysticks to run on new computers? I want to give my FFB Pro another shot. :) I have one of those RockFire adapters . It works fine with just my Flightstick Pro and the non-pro pedals, but not with my throttle. I'm stuck with the …

Re: JOYSTICK ... favorite?

My favorite force feedback joystick is the CH Products Force F/X, because you could program it to respond to certain signals (like the "Fire" signal in a shooter game) in NON-force-feedback games to produce jolts! Never had one of those, only CH I ever owned was a Flightstick (two buttons + …

Re: JOYSTICK ... favorite?

in Milliways
I have worn down a lot of joysticks in my life, but my favorite was the original Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro. These things were made to withstand the armageddon and the apocalypse at the same time. I'm still hoping to get it working someday on my regular PC with the help of a cheap …

Re: Windows 7 GPU scaling?

in Windows
For some reason the 'use gpu scaling' option's grayed out in my ccc, which sucks as I use my monitor's native res for the desktop and sometimes play 4:3-only games and I apparently can not use GPU scaling for them to have the correct aspect and pixel size unless I set my desktop to that 4:3 …

Re: How to start combat mode for flight simulator 1.0?

in Milliways
According to Wikipedia Flight Simulator 1 does have WW1 combat, I thought you meant the first one by Sublogic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Flight_Simulator_1.0#Flight_Simulator_1.0 I don't really remember how to start it though, I think it was done by calling an options screen by means of …

Re: Developers releases DRM free game, 93% pirated on day one

in Milliways
and that's counting only the naive pirates that don't use software firewalls! And not the smart ones who bought the game and do have firewalls. By the way, would the figures be different when the game would have DRM? It also makes clear that gamedevelopers are the largest group of pirates, who on …

Re: Most disappointing games?

in Milliways
I think HL1 is overrated too. But the games seem to really work on some people. You have to really dig Valve's brand of corridor shooting and their mute protagonist storytelling stuff. I thought Half Life 1 was rather good, certainly better than most other shooters at the time and that Freeman was …
