Played a lot of flightsims in the dos days, of Microprose only Strike Eagle 3 I'm afraid. Others I played are Red Baron, Chuck Yeager, Harrier Assault, TFX, Retaliator, Dawn Patrol, Falcon 3 and EF2000.

I wish I had bought The Reap, though I have read the game is impossible to play on newer system (notice the soundglitch in the video), well..., can only dream this game get on GOG someday.

I don't really care about copyprotection stuff and such, but I don't like steam for a simple reason; if I make a backup of a steam game (or have the cd bought in a store) I'm completely dependent of Steam to play it, if steam goes bankrupt, tough luck, if I don't have internet connection, tough luck …

In terms of material resourses I think a CD uses less than a 3.5" floppy, so it depends on how you look at it.

The issue isn't whether the media burns (most does) but the error rates and how long the disks last. I'll bet if you actually scanned those disks it would be an eye opener. I know, but friends of my have 4/5 year old recordables that don't work anymore, while I have 10 year old that still work …

Can't say I have a lot of problems with this. I use the cheapest I can buy (Platinum), there is the occasional coaster (1 in 30 I think), but that is also caused by my habit of burning extra tracks. Extreme Assault works, you first need to setup the screen though. Try running the setup program first. And to run the 3dfx version you need SVN build Dosbox like yKwongs build and a glidewrapper like nGlide. Also you need a fast cpu for this, at least 3GHz.

Patches Scrolls gives me headaches, luckily you can still get it here. However if you are going to run it on XP or 7 you're likely to run into sound or graphics problems anyway. For the most troublefree experience I recommend getting the latest installwrapper.
