Shift key gets stuck on in DOSBox

in DOSBox General
Every now and then, I find that the shift key gets "stuck on" in DOSBox. For example, typing on the command line will result in text in ALL CAPS and playing Civ2 in Windows 3.1 will cause "shifted" shortcuts to get executed when I hit the letter on its own, and vice-versa (eg. T brings up the tax …

Re: Weird Win 3.1 problem

in DOSBox General
So why on Earth aren't they releasing new official binaries? Use the search it has been discussed a thousand times or so... From what I can tell the answer seems to be "We can't be bothered to release another official build. Ever. Because we're too lazy. Use the Daum build unless you have a problem …

Re: Weird Win 3.1 problem

DOSBox hasn't been abandoned. It is continuously updated. The only issue is that the binaries provided for download are old. You can either download the code and compile a binary or download an already compiled binary from Emucr. Don't suspect anythng especially when you are using a DOSBox build no …

Re: Weird Win 3.1 problem

in DOSBox General
The ykhwong 2015-01-25 SVN build of DOSBox has been broken and until we get a response from ykhwong, any issues are NOT going to be addressed. Can you blame people for using other builds though when the main one has been basically abandoned? To get around this issue: 1. Stick with the official …

Weird Win 3.1 problem

in DOSBox General
I've managed to install my Windows 3.1 in DOSBox. I've also installed the S3 graphics drivers linked to on this site . I went into Windows Setup and have tried setting the display to various options for the S3, such as "S3 864 1.41B5 1280x1024 256 colors SF". Nearly everything works fine, however I …

Re: Save States - Proof of concept

in DOSBox Patches
Any updates on whether something like this might make it into the main build anytime soon? There are some games with dodgy save/load mechanisms that can cause corruption; a solid DOSBox save state mechanism would be awesome as a save/load replacement for these games (yeah yeah, the quality of some …

Mad TV 2 bug?

Occasionally in Mad TV 2, the character just stops walking around and mouseclicks don't cause him to move. This may even be a bug in the game itself, but I don't remember it happening when I used to play from Windows 98.

Re: Changing mouse sensitivity on X and Y axis?

in DOSBox General
Actually I'm going to refine this request even more. 😀 The game weirdly seems to have a very low sensitivity in scrolling the mouse cursor UP, but the other three directions are OK. So I'd like to be able to have 4 mouse sensitivity settings; when moving left, right, down, and up. 😀

Changing mouse sensitivity on X and Y axis?

in DOSBox General
I know this is a relatively obscure request, but: We have a mouse sensitivity setting currently in the DOSBox config file. Is it possible now to set separate mouse sensitivity settings on the mouse X and Y axis? Would this be easy to add to a future DOSBox version (I'm building the SVN version so as …

Re: Compiling DOSBox without SDL?

Qbix wrote: the development package includes that file. So maybe the location in the sdl-config script is wrong (you can simply edit that one with a text editor) You're right. Switching prefix in sdl-config to: Copy code to clipboard 1 prefix=/usr/SDL/SDL-1.2.15 did the trick.

Re: Compiling DOSBox without SDL?

OK, I tried installing the SDL devel package for Windows and I included various SDL paths in my PATH variable: export PATH="/SDL/SDL-1.2.15:/SDL/SDL-1.2.15/bin:/SDL/SDL-1.2.15/include/SDL:/SDL/SDL-1.2.15/lib:$PATH" However, configure still failed with "The test program failed to compile or link. See …

Compiling DOSBox without SDL?

I'm trying to build DOSBox on Windows XP. The wiki page states: "When working on Windows, you might want to save a lot of effort and just use the SDL (and optionally SDL_net) .DLL files included with the latest official DOSBox release, as compiling SDL with full options (e.g. DirectX support) is a …
