You could desolder that header from a dead motherboard. Even if you have a 4+ pin header, they are meant to snap to reduce in size.

I have only seen it whereby you can use DB9 RS-232 and RS-485 serial devices on a USB port, not the other way around. If you have a link to someone who has made a converter that lets you use USB mice on a computer's RS-232 serial port, I would be interested.

I have put the DS12887 into my IBM 5x86-133 system and will report back in a month as to how well it is keeping time. For the short few hours I have tested it thus far, the unit properly saves BIOS settings and keeps time.

If you are trying to install Win98 on another computer and move the HDD back to the Presario, you might want to install Win98 on a Cyrix 6x86- or Cyrix 5x86-based computer then transfer the HDD over.

Sleepless nights of online searching. This is how I found the Cx5530 drivers for my ECS P5GX-M motherboard. Russian and eastern European FTP sites seem to be great resources for old drivers.

The drivers disk should have NT4 drivers. Those may work with W2K. For Win9x, try using a FAT, not FAT32, partition. If it is BGA, I suspect 180 MHz or less.
