Re: Printing in DOSBox

In theory, you could print to a Serial printer, by using the DosBox directserial emulation... If you had some kind of serial printer emulator, that Windows loaded as a COM port, then you could print to that from DosBox to the emulator, which would then translate to something your real windows …

Firepower Modem inconsitency

Ok, so I've got firepower running, but I'm noticing some change in how the virtual modem works between dosbox 0.61 and 0.63... in 0.61, the modem emulation seems to work properly, as when Firepower sends the init strings, it recieves the OK strings properly. However in 0.63, the OK string doesn't …

Dosbox Modem emulation capability?

In looking through the dosbox.conf that comes with 0.63, i've noticed a section which reads as follows: [modem] # modem -- Enable virtual modem emulation. # comport -- COM Port modem is connected to. # listenport -- TCP Port the modem listens on for incoming connections. modem=false comport=2 …

Re: King Quest 8

Min OS requirement for MoE is Win 95. It is playable in XP, though some have had problems with lockups at two or three points in the game. These can usually be worked around. True, but in Win2k (and I'm assuming XP) you may experience game crashes when loading a saved game. check the nt compatible …

Re: Official website

It was just a quick site which pointed people in the right direction, without having to sift through a message board... Granted there's not much sifting, but it was at least some official place to look that was more than a generic project page. As a techie kind of guy I can find my way around a SF …

Official website

I've been trying to direct people to the official VDMSound website, but it seens the VDMSound.sf.net and the ntvdm.cjb.net sites are down. Any idea what's going on, or if it's coming back?

Re: best games...

Syndicate. Mmmmm, Syndicate... Dosbox brought that one back to me, and boy am I glad... one of the first (and best IMHO) RTS games available for DOS. Prince of Persia 1 and 2 were cool. There was an old DOS game called "Alley Cat" for my XT that I enjoyed... And I can't forget about Sierra games: …

Re: Could someone please hash the MT32 rom file?

Well, I think it's safe to give you information that is useful in other endeavours, but an MD5 sum is going to tell you if your downloaded file is illegal. The MD5 sum isn't illegal in itself, but it's only purpose is to verify that you've downloaded the right file off the internet, or if you ripped …

Re: Could someone please hash the MT32 rom file?

The size of the rom is exactly 512k, or 524,288 bytes. The MD5 Sum is asking a bit much. Giving out info used to pirate the rom would be wrong (and against the rules on this board).... On the other hand, if you are trying to make your own Public Domain Replacement, the file size is important...

Re: Dosbox vs. Windows driver

The problems I'm having with the widdows driver, is that the volume is WAY too low on everything but the drums, and most instruments don't sound right (except percussion). I can also record this, but, as I have just noticed, when I record stereo mix from my sound card, it introduces static that …

Dosbox vs. Windows driver

Is the Windows driver on-par with the dosbox driver? I can't seem to get the sound in my sierra games to work properly, using the windows drivers, but the Dosbox driver sounds really good (pitch-wise)... Any ideas? As well, the latest dosbox release is clipping a LOT with my Sound card, sepecially …

Re: MT-32 Emulator and DOSBox Problems

You never know... If you took your MIDI-out from the amiga, use your MPU-401 connection in, and routed it through the Windows driver, it might work flawlessly... Of course I'd say with a modern computer that you'd have one of the most expensive MT-32's available... 😀
