hi i think you are referring to the WDIDLE Dos tool which stops the WD drives parking the heads every two seconds. i tried that on my WD EADS drive and although it stopped the parking and `Load_Cycle_Count' didn't increase by the 1000s every hour it didn't solve the problem with the drive freezing …

PPS. with the PCI ess the DOS app `essvol' for the ISA cards also works to set volume. I don't really remember if that it was possible to set volumes on the vortex in DOS or not. hmm. sorry for lack of clear info. bye
