Beware that this CT1350B needs a -5V power rail to operate which your ATX PSU most likely lacks.

The "Monster Sound Gold" is a 4MB board based on the dream 9733 synth. It has the Roland Sound Canvas soundfont inside. It uses the same soundbank as used on the very original "MaxiSound 64" from Guillemot (the soundbank is GMS963200) - excellent quality.

DOS games don't benefit from VRAM. Actually some VRAM solutions are clocked slower than their DRAM counterparts and make things even worse. For Win 3.x the S3 911 is a fine card, sure, but it still sucks in DOS.

The Trident 8900D-R is actually on par with a ET4000 for DOS games. It has a 32-Bit memory interface. Apart from the 8900D-R only the 8900CL has 32-Bit access. All other ISA Tridents have the narrow 16-Bit interface. The "spaghetti lines" should be adjustable by tuning the input? At least my Sony …

None of the 2 cards are a good choice for DOS games on a DX/33 rig. The ET3000 and also the S3 911 are slow for anything but static puzzle games. It would be intersting to measure the actual benefit of using Direct Draw technology. Apart from that Doom95 supports resolutions up to 640x480 which may need more CPU power than the 320x200 DOS-version.

To me , the CT2600 (SB Pro 2 Mitsumi) sounds even a bit cleaner than all the CT1600 / CT1690 cards I have tested.
