Well, I assume you are referring to DOSBOX 0.70, but, as I stated, I was using DOSBOX 0.65 so there was no CORE=AUTO in that one. I had to use those setting to get it to work. The game will crash in XP. You WILL need DOSBOX but I recommend trying DOSBOX 0.70 with the cycles set to AUTO and core set to DYNAMIC. I run the game with DOSBOX 0.65 but it is still somewhat slow. I have not yet tried DOSBOX 0.70 but suspect it will run more smoothly on it.

YOu need to provide some more info. Do you have the CD version or the disk version? Have you applied any of the patches (you can get them here http://www.patches-scrolls.de/)? Also, does the game crash back to DOSBOX or does DOSBOX crash?

Assuming you are using Windows XP or later, I would recommend using the free port on this site: http://jonof.edgenetwork.org/?p=jfsw The game will run natively through Windows with this port. It runs better than with DOSBOX 0.65. Haven't tried 0.70 on this one.

Found the problem on fullscreen resolution. ASPECT must be set to TRUE and the SCALER must also be set to NONE. All other combinations result in a skewed picture in fullscreen mode. Not sure why. What operating system are you using? The game was designed for Windows. I don't know about Windows 3.1 but it works fine on XP using the Win95 compatibility mode.

Thanks. I actually got the Windows fix working by downloading HOTUs CD-rip. Apparently the rip fixes something which was causing the game to exit in my version.

Well, I don't know how legal it is, but I found a cracked version of the original LODE RUNNER on the web. I use the LODERUN.DAT file from the disk and the new EXE file to start the game. It runs fine now.
