Re: Conquest of the new World(Dos version)

Well, I assume you are referring to DOSBOX 0.70, but, as I stated, I was using DOSBOX 0.65 so there was no CORE=AUTO in that one. I had to use those setting to get it to work. In any case, since this is about CONW, can I ask if anyone knows how to get the game to run without a CD. I have the CD, but …

Re: Conquest of the new World(Dos version)

Assuming the disk is you CD, you will need to mount the CD as well as the directory where it is installed. Here is my BAT file: dosbox.exe C:\STRATEGY\NEWWORLD\CONQUEST.BAT -c "mount D D:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -ioctl" -conf C:\STRATEGY\NEWWORLD\dosbox.conf -fullscreen -Exit The DOSBOX.CONF file should …

Re: Abandonware and Dosbox

I have a question on sierra games collections and Dosbox. I know that Dosbox is free and has a GNU license. bit can Sierra sell dosbox along with its games? Because when you buy either the King's Quest or Leisure Suit Larry Collection you are also buying a form of Dosbox. I guess they have version …

Re: Abandonware and Dosbox

Let's see what all here seem to agree upon: 1. Technically Abandonware is illegal. 2. DOSBOX does not support Abandonware for that reason. 3. Abandonware can have legitimate usages (preserving heritage and making older games playable on newer systems, etc.). 4. Many copyright owners do not care …

Re: Abandonware and Dosbox

unfortunately if you look through this forum you will find that it happens a lot like this: "game xyz doesn't work, please help!" ...some troubleshooting..."Don't know why it doesn't work for you. Please reinstall the game under Dosbox." "Can't I downloaded it from some site!" How is anyone …

Re: Abandonware and Dosbox

I have tried to stay out of this argument, since we have heard it all before, but what bothers me are those who are determined to act as a sort of private copyright police. I have come to sites like this to get help with games before and promptly get accused of using pirated software even though I …

Re: Dosbox 0.70 & Shadow Warrior

Assuming you are using Windows XP or later, I would recommend using the free port on this site: http://jonof.edgenetwork.org/?p=jfsw The game will run natively through Windows with this port. It runs better than with DOSBOX 0.65. Haven't tried 0.70 on this one.

Re: Terminator Games in 0.70

Future Shock & Skynet are perfectly playable in VGA in 0.70. Skynet crashes in VESA though. And even in VGA it's sometimes a bit odd. That's without the patch though. Interesting. I got it working but with the crashes. I checked the cfg files for SKYNET and it only sets sound devices. When I check …

Re: Terminator Games in 0.70

Found the problem on fullscreen resolution. ASPECT must be set to TRUE and the SCALER must also be set to NONE. All other combinations result in a skewed picture in fullscreen mode. Not sure why. This leaves Terminator Skynet and Terminator Rampage. If anyone has solutions on these, please let me …

Terminator Games in 0.70

With the exception of Terminator 2029, none of these games worked right in the old DOSBOX. So I was eager to try them in the new. These are the problems I am now having. Hopefully they can be fixed. Terminator Future Shock : The game appears to work fine except that the resolution is stretched like …

Re: System Shock

in DOS
Thanks. I actually got the Windows fix working by downloading HOTUs CD-rip. Apparently the rip fixes something which was causing the game to exit in my version.

Re: Original Lode Runner

Well, now it doesn't check the real DRIVE A but neither does it recognize the disk as real. It says insert disk and press enter. I do so but nothing happens. I checked the real DISK and there do not appear to be any hidden files. I think Sierra DISK used the same copy protection, but I don't know …
