I don't think you can. You have to construct the path yourself. E.g. %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data or %AppData%\Local Settings\Application Data

Read my 60 Seconds Guide to DOSBox (and don't just read it - follow it too). If that doesn't help, come back with details on how you mounted your C and D drives, how you did the install, how you configured sound, music etc. Reading the aptly named README file will be a good idea too.

Errors in the dynamic core emulation is usually quite evident (crashes, dumps, ...) and it is much, much faster than normal. So unless you see crashes, use dynamic.

I assume you have tried using core=normal ? That -freesize 30000 is usual, and very high. Is it really necessary? Tried running LOADFIX before running the installer?

DOSBox doesn't really emulate any version of MS-DOS. It tries to emulate enough so that games and such will install without too much trouble. Some programs (and installers) will ask the system such questions as "What version of MS-DOS is this please?" and DOSBox will normally lie and say "It is 5.00 …

but is that true that it needs "active" action from the user (i.e. pressing a combination of keys)? Not really. AHK scripts can run in the background and automatically check for certain events, like a window popping up. Here is something I cobbled together once that might serve as a starting point …

CheckOut AutoHotKey (if you are on Windows). I am sure you can script AHK to minimize the DOSBox window(s).
